Bridgeport Rotary Family to Family Food Drive

When the 2009 Barnum Festival Parade sponsored by People's United Community Foundation Bank steps off on Sunday, June 28th, there will be a very special and timely addition to this year's festivities.

Ringmaster Michael E. Niedermeier's theme for 2009 is, 'Family to Family'An Unselfish Commitment to Our Community.' With that in mind, the Bridgeport Rotary Club has undertaken a massive food collection drive along the parade route. Niedermeier is Blum Shapiro's Partner-In-Charge, Southern Connecticut. One of his partners is Chris Gallo, a longtime member of the Bridgeport Rotary Club, who is chairing the food drive.

'Michael's call to arms is a perfect fit for Rotary and our longstanding involvement in the community. We are delighted to be involved in helping families help other families.'

The Rotarians will march the parade route and gather non-perishable food items which will then be put into trucks for distribution to our area food banks.

'Make sure you come to the parade and bring the whole family,' encouraged Gallo. 'Also remember to bring along food to help your neighbors who are really struggling right now.'
