On Thursday, June 28 at 7:30 p.m., the Barnum Festival brings Jenny Lind's American tour back to life in an unparalleled performance at The Bijou Theatre in Bridgeport CT. The concert will feature the American winner of the 64th Annual Jenny Lind competition, soprano Julie-Anne Hamula and the winner of the Swedish Jenny Lind competition, Josefine Andersson, a mezzo soprano. They will be accompanied on piano by Andrew Gordon and Nigar Dadscheva respectrively.

Hailed as the Swedish Nightingale, soprano Jenny Lind was considered the most brilliant talent of her time. In 1850, P.T. Barnum orchestrated an extraordinary American tour of the acclaimed songstress, traveling to great cities from Boston to New Orleans. In 1949, a competition was started in Bridgeport to find vocal artists in both Sweden and America who were most representative of P.T. Barnum's Jenny Lind. Each year, in celebration of this magnificent history, this concert marks the only time that the two winners perform, with their talented accompanists, at the same location. This Barnum Festival event has also received support from The Norden Club.
